Book Synopsis Take Action Practitioner Guidebook by : Allison Waters

Book excerpt: The complete practitioner guide for the Take Action Program — a user-friendly cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) program designed for psychologists and school counsellors trained in CBT who work with anxious children. Take Action teaches children aged 4-12 years helpful ways to cope with and manage anxiety. It is an evidence-based intervention combining recent advances in both CBT and the cognitive-neuroscience of child anxiety. This practitioner guidebook uses an easy-to-read standardised layout to guide you through the steps covered in each of six treatment modules as well as examples of all handouts and work sheets for both children and parents for the practitioner to refer to during each session. It also includes an assessment module, providing useful information on a range of assessment measures for those practitioners wanting to use pre or post intervention outcomes. The treatment modules can be used sequentially across eight or ten weeks to provide an individual or group intervention or the modules can be used as stand-alone guides to teach specific skills. Clients are provided with a professional and permanent record of therapy via the handouts and work sheets purchased separately as bound booklets with colour covers. (see Take Action Child Handout Workbook ISBN 9781922112781, and Take Action Parent Handout Workbook ISBN 9781922112298) . For more information about Take Action go to www.takeactionprogram.com
